🏛️ New Bern ~25 min
Tour Tryon Palace — North Carolina’s first capitol with gardens and living-history tours — then wander the historic waterfront downtown: shops, restaurants, and the birthplace of Pepsi-Cola. Finish at Union Point Park where the Neuse meets the Trent.
🌲 Croatan National Forest at our doorstep
160,000 acres of pine forest, hiking trails, and blackwater creeks. Paddle the White Oak River or Brice’s Creek, or just get gloriously lost on a trail for the afternoon.
🏖️ Emerald Isle & the Crystal Coast ~30 min
Miles of Atlantic beach for swimming, shelling, and surf fishing. Walk out to The Point at Emerald Isle or drop a line off Bogue Inlet Pier.
⚓ Kinston ~30 min
See the remains of a Confederate ironclad at the CSS Neuse Interpretive Center, then hit the growing food-and-brewery scene downtown.

Pay your respects at Lejeune Memorial Gardens and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, with shopping and dining along the New River.
